For this first edition of the Grand Prix France Hong Kong, more than 30 projects are in competition to win some of the prizes. All embody the tight collaboration between France and Hong Kong. It is time for you to discover all of them.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CATEGORY

BASELINE LIGHTING DESIGN STUDIO – 50% SAVINGS ON “RETAIL” LIGHTING SOLUTIONS

Baseline is an eco-friendly & multicultural lighting expert company created by a French operating in Hong Kong, Asia, and France. Main characteristics of the project are:

1) the creation of artistic and intelligent solutions,

2) education of the market in green design,

3)  help to reduce consumption and energy costs for stores

SOLAR SOUND SYSTEM HONG KONG – SUSTAINABLE WAY OF MAKING MUSIC 

Solar Sound System was brought to Hong Kong by French, Hong Kong and Thaï entrepreneurs and DJs and uses both sun and human power to create energy for DJs (attendees contribute on bicycles ). Moreover, Solar Sound System is an educative tool to introduce sustainability to the public, and has been doing workshops in international schools.

CLEANUPTIME – CITIZEN TO SUPPORT OCEAN SUSTAINABILITY 

Ocean3C has is a great example of collaboration between the Hongkonger and French communities through its numerous events and programs around Ocean sustainability. Cleanuptime is a collaborative project in partnership with two Hong Kong institutions: Swire Institute of Marine Sciences (SWIMS) HKU, and the NGO Time Auction. Its objective is to engage the community in a unique Citizen Science program through beach cleanups, to create a local database of marine plastic waste, which is of great help for scientific research.

CLIMATE CHANGE STUDY BY HKBU AND UNIVERSITE COTE D’AZUR  

Two distinguished universities (France & Hong Kong) identify the socio-political, cultural, informational and communicational factors that contribute to climate change adaptation and resilience. The project develops a framework to understand the responses to climate change and provide clear suggestions for climate change adaptation including policies, design standards, green infrastructure, individual behavior, education, technology etc. The collaboration improves communication between different stakeholders including scientists, policymakers, and the public.

PHENIX BY ONTHELIST PHENIX – FRENCH APP SAVING FOOD IN HONG KONG 

OnTheList, founded by a French couple, partnered with the French app Phenix in 2021 in order to provide the market knowledge of Hong Kong. Restaurants and shops offer on the app ‘baskets of food’ at a reduced price, and users select baskets and go pick it up. Everyone wins as partners have an easy way to deal with over-stocks of food, they gain visibility, generate revenues and have a chance to implement a greener branding. Users enjoy good food at 50% discount minimum, while having a positive impact on the planet.

THE UP-CYCLING ART FAIR: WHEN ART SERVES SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The Up-Cycling Art Fair gathered 10 Hong-Kong-based artists on the meaningful subject of waste management. The energy of those 2-days exhibition was special: artists from 16 years old to 49 years old sharing their creativity and ideas about waste management in HK. 26 artworks were sold and part of the proceeds were donated to the local charity ImpactHK.

The winners will be chosen shortly by our jury composed of the Grand Prix partners and sponsors. Names of the winners will be communicated beginning of June and a ceremony will be organised afterwards to receive the prizes depending on the social distance conditions. Stay tuned!
