Coming from a career in architecture, Matthew worked on a wide range of built projects across Canada and Korea before completing his Master’s degree in set and lighting design at UBC in Vancouver. With a diverse background in the worlds of construction and fine arts, he’s developed a collaborative design approach that’s successful across a wide range of teams and clients. Past projects of note include the interior design of the HSBC Archives in Hong Kong, the landscape lighting for the award-winning Mandarin Oriental Beijing, guestrooms and public areas for Sofitel Ambassador Seoul, and the historical Shek O Country Club. He’s long been passionate about sustainable design, being a LEED AP since 2008. His current focus is on green lighting ecosystems, circadian and responsive controls, and bring a touch of the theatrical to every project.
